why we do this

hi

i quite like the story of scosha and the term story jeweler. i think that all special gifts should have a story behind them.

i am purchasing the earrings for my daughter who will turn 13 this month and is "finally allowed" to pierce her ears-she still doesn't know it yet! she lived her first 7 years in nyc and has moved to more than a few countries since-a traveller she is and very fortunate dad moves around for work! her goal in life is to return to nyc to "live forever" as she terms it. we now reside in switzerland as unfortunately my daughter suffers from neuroblastoma and this was the suggested childrens hospital for her. seeing my husband is swiss it was the right choice-i am australian just like Scosha but travel was too far for a lot of different reasons.

the reason for telling my story is that i would like Scosha to know that we too have a story sometimes-when purchasing-and this gift along with the scosha story seemed perfect for my precious girl.

thank you Scosha.

Learn about Precious Metal Clay

Texturing Metal Clay with Stamps, Molds, Texture Mats, Texture Plates, Tear-away Textures, Appliqué, Punches, Carving Tools, and More!

One of the things that makes metal clay - including both precious metal clay (Precious Metal Clay / PMC and Art Clay Silver and Gold) and base metal clay (bronze, copper and steel metal clay) - such an exciting medium is its ability to be textured easily. Everything from rubber stamps to found objects can be used to impress wonderful details into your designs, which become pure silver / fine silver (.999 silver), .900 silver (in the case of PMC Pro), 22k gold, bronze, copper or steel metal after being fired. You can also texture dry metal clay by carving, filing, molding, and other texturing techniques.
This lens provides loads of ideas for creating interesting and intricate textures in metal clay. Your imagination is the limit!

Get to know Williamsburg.

Scosha is located in North Williamsburg where the food is amazing, views are lovely and the people come from all walks of life.

Few other enclaves inspire the kind of love-it-or-loathe-it partisanship that this one does. But the thing to remember is that Williamsburg is actually a rather large neighborhood, both in population (it’s home to about 125,000 people, about the same as Harlem) and geography. Read More

The Nose Knows: Perfume Making Workshop with Anne McClain

Mice at Play, a new New York based community of curious and adventurous women is setting off on an olfactory adventure in the beautiful store, Scosha's & Co, in Williamsburg. You are invited!

As part of Mice at Play’s 5 Senses series, you will participate in an introductory perfume workshop with Brooklyn-based aroma maven Anne McClain who will teach you the fundamentals of perfumery, and equip you with a basic understanding of standard perfume vocabulary and concepts. Throughout the course, natural and synthetic ingredients that form the perfumers’ palate will be sampled, and their origins, properties, and uses will be discussed. You will then dissect several mainstream and niche fragrances to see if you can identify the raw materials contained in them, and discuss how harmonious blends are made.

Date: March 17th
Time: 7pm-9pm
Price: $75.00 non-members. $67.50 members.

Purchase tickets in advance at: http://miceatplay.com/playdates/18/. Thank you.

Expert Profile: Anne McClain

Raised in Rhode Island and Japan, Anne’s many travels instilled in her a great sense of adventure and appreciation of other cultures and ways of thinking.

In 2005, Anne moved to Brooklyn, New York, where among all of the creative people, she felt she had found a place to call home. The energy and optimism of New York allowed Anne to follow what was at the time a budding passion. Anne turned to the fine art of perfumery after an extended interest in photography as another way to flatten an experience into something tangible, yet ethereal. Anne also enjoys learning about aromatherapeutic qualities of natural ingredients, to understand the psychological effects that the distilled oils of flowers, resins, barks, peels, leaves and other plant materials have on the mind.

Anne graduated with honors from the Grasse Institute of Perfumery in 2009.

About Mice at Play:
Researchers are pointing to PLAY as a fundamental need, crucial to a healthy adult life. Stuart Brown, M.D., author of Play: How It Shapes the Brain, Opens the Imagination and Invigorates the Soul says, “What enables us to innovate, problem-solve, and be happy, smart, resilient human beings is our ability to PLAY. The level of responsibility most women carry often makes them put play on the backburner.”

Escape the everyday! Through events such as Trapeze, The Polar Bear Swim, Harlem Renaissance Photo Shoot, Mixology 101, and Burlesque, Mice at Play has been providing its members an outlet for play and dare. Forget the typical dinner‐and‐a‐movie with girlfriends; Mice at Play members gain renewed vitality and happiness by experiencing unique and creative adventures that often take them outside their comfort zone. Our playtime guides women on a road to self-discovery and enrichment. Mice at Play is fun with a purpose.

Seeds and Fruit- Scosha Interview

Fantasy, soul, and the natural connection of things are at the heart of Scosha Woolridge’s jewelry designs. Originally from Australia, Scosha drew inspiration from her worldwide travels before eventually calling New York City home. Her happy mix of materials — including textiles, metals, leather, and precious stones — play off each other in a way that feels raw and authentic. Scosha approaches her work as a storyteller, incorporating words and materials that together create a personal narrative. Designing for both men and women, Scosha explores the sort of truth that can only be found in things made by hand.
